PANJIM: The lawyer representing Pooja Sharma, the main accused in the Assagao house demolition case, on Wednesday, finally disclosed that his client was in Mumbai, and had purchased the plot by paying around Rs 1.68 crore.

The hearing on the anticipatory bail application filed by Pooja Sharma, was adjourned to Friday, July 5.

Speaking to reporters, Pooja’s lawyer senior advocate Surendra Desai, said he has sought protection by way of interim bail which was rejected by the court.

Adv Desai asserted that allegations levelled against his client are false and that she had purchased the plot by paying around Rs 1.68 crore.

“The matter has been listed for Friday (July 5) in the afternoon. In the meantime, we have claimed protection by way of interim bail. The court observed that the interim bail is implied when the notice is issued. The matter has been adjourned because they filed a big reply alleging against my client so it will have to be stated that she is innocent. The allegations are absolutely false. I have nothing to do with it. I have just been brought in. Possibly somebody in between has created a problem. He wanted to remove him. My client being the owner, has paid Rs 1.68 crore,” he said.

When asked where Pooja Sharma is, Desai said, “Pooja Sharma is

in Mumbai.”

Pooja Sharma, one of the accused in the Assagao house demolition case, on July 1, filed an anticipatory bail application before the North Goa District and Sessions Court, Panjim.

Five of the accused arrested for their alleged involvement in the Assagao house demolition reported on June 22, were released on conditional bail by the Mapusa Court, on Tuesday.
